El Presidente Recipe
Elegant and refined, the El Presidente is a Cuban classic from the golden age of cocktails. This timeless drink combines white rum, dry vermouth, orange curaçao, and Bartender’s Daughter Grenadine Syrup for a perfectly balanced sip that’s light, citrusy, and just sweet enough. Sophistication in a glass, it’s the ultimate choice for rum lovers seeking a touch of old-world glamour.
ServES 1
INGREDIENTS
- 1.5 oz (45 ml) white rum
- 0.75 oz (22 ml) dry vermouth
- 0.5 oz (15 ml) orange curaçao
- 0.5 oz (15 ml) Bartender’s Daughter Grenadine Syrup
- Orange twist for garnish
METHOD
1. stir
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir well until chilled.
2. Strain
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
3. Garnish
Express an orange twist over the top and drop it into the glass for a burst of citrus aroma.*
*How to express:
- Cut the Twist: Use a paring knife or vegetable peeler to cut a thin strip of orange peel. Try to avoid including too much of the white pith, as it can be bitter.
- Express the Oils: Hold the peel over the cocktail with the shiny side facing down. Gently squeeze or bend the peel to release its aromatic oils onto the drink’s surface.
- Garnish (Optional): You can drop the twist into the cocktail for added citrus flavor, or run the peel’s outer side around the rim of the glass for an extra aromatic touch.
